Champions Tennis League’s Brings Up Tennis to the Fore

Thousands of budding sportspeople find themselves on a shaky ground when it comes to pursuing their dreams, mainly because they are not given a chance to prove their worth. Their potential is well on display, yet a dearth of opportunities to prove their mettle remains one of the greatest roadblocks. This puts up the need to respect each sport equally, and outline a broader vision for each sport.

The current scenario portrays a hazy picture for other sports, barring cricket. But if there is any sport that can put cricket to test, then it is tennis. Tennis is a rapidly growing sport and All India Tennis Association along with Vijay Amritraj, the tennis legend, are gearing up with the concept of Champions Tennis League (CTL). It is a tennis championship league the matches of which will be played across six cities: Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore and Chandigarh.

Cutting through the competitive waters is the newly formed Bengalaru franchise for Bangalore Tennis- Bangalore Raptors. Owned by the Chandilyas, the team is a nifty concoction of fierceness and smartness. Bangalore Raptors brews a combination of international experience and Indian talent.

Talking about CTL, the Champions Tennis League, it is predominantly focussed on India. The objective is to encourage junior tennis and bring tennis closer to India. With 18 foreign players from the world’s best 25, the league is expected to run full throttle.  Unlike IPTL, CTL is taking the league to six different cities. The inauguration ceremony took place on 17th November, while the final will take place on 26th November.

Going by the markedly reasonable prices for the matches, the league is making waves with a huge footfall. Vijay Amritraj has further asserted that CTL players will be featured in India; the legendary tennis players are likely to come down to India.
